TECHNICAL NOTES: The blade used in the Electric Ring Cutter is made of high speed steel.  It will cut gold, silver, platinum, nickel and brass and their respective alloys.  Most class rings are made of 10 karat gold, and it will cut them.  For all of the metals listed above, the blade can be used repeatedly before replacement is required.  The blade will also cut titanium rings, but replacement of the blade will likely be required after cutting a single titanium ring.  The blade will not cut steel. That is a very good thing because the portion of the ring cutter that protects the finger, the S-guide, is made out of steel.
