A bulb inserted in the groove of the Coddington lens illuminates the object being examined. The unique optical properties of the groove disperse the light from the bulb evenly across the field of view. Requires two AA batteries (not included). 10x power 1"/2.5 cm focal distance 40 diopters 19.8 mm lens diameter.
The lens used in a Coddington magnifier is made from a single piece of the highest quality optical glass. A Coddington lens is shaped like an hour-glass inside, and it is this feature that makes the Coddington magnifier so effective at achieving distortion-free magnification, even at the periphery of the magnifier. The Coddington Magnifier is especially well-suited to use outdoors where its single-piece-all-optical-glass-construction makes it impervious to humidity and extremes of temperature.
